// THE FACTS

Why Connecticut middle schools care.

Vaping crossed into CT middle schools faster than any prior tobacco product. The window for prevention starts in 5th grade. By 8th, exposure is universal. Learn more about our vaping prevention programs connecticut offerings.

MA YOUTH HEALTH SURVEY · 2024
1 in 4

MA high schoolers report current e-cigarette use — and exposure begins in middle school.

The middle-school window (5-8) is the prevention sweet spot. Our program is built around it.

FDA · 2024
90%

of teen vape users started before age 18 — and many before high school.

Wait too long and the conversation is already retroactive. Get there in 5-8 and prevention still works.

CT DPH · 2024
$X

Connecticut schools recover prevention costs through CHF, Title IV, and CT DPH grants.

Most CT districts already budget for this — the program just needs to be on the list.

// THE PROGRAM

Five modules. Forty minutes.

The 40-minute middle-school assembly is structured around five tight modules, each engineered for the 5-8 attention span — and refreshed every fall to keep up with the vape industry.
01

Decode The Device / 8 min

We show real vape devices, name them, and explain the chemistry. Students stop being mystified and start being informed. Zero euphemisms.

★ Opener
02

The Body Effect / 7 min

Lung capacity, athletic performance, sleep, focus — the effects students notice. BMX riders demonstrate why their careers depend on lungs that work.

★ Health
03

The Influencer Trap / 8 min

How vape companies use TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat to reach the 5-8 audience. Students learn to spot the pattern — and call it out.

★ Social
04

The Refusal Script / 9 min

Practiced live. Three concrete lines that work in real middle-school social dynamics — no awkward, no preachy, no panicked.

★ Skill
05

The BMX Finale / 8 min

Stunts, sound, riders. The closing module ties it all back: what your body can do — when you take care of it.

"Our 7th graders were quoting the refusal script by lunch. The script was a real conversation between real friends — not a poster on the wall."

// QUESTIONS

The stuff Connecticut admins ask.

What grade levels does the program serve?

Grades 5-8 primarily. We have a K-4 awareness format on request, but the dedicated vape program is built for the middle-school window when peer-pressure exposure peaks.

How is this different from a tobacco prevention assembly?

Vape products move fast — devices, flavors, social platforms, marketing tactics. The vape program is rewritten yearly to reflect what middle schoolers are actually encountering on TikTok, Snapchat, and in school bathrooms. Tobacco prevention covers the broader category; this zooms in.

Is it grant-eligible in Connecticut?

Yes. Most CT districts fund the program through CT Healthy and Balanced Living Curriculum Framework alignment, Title IV-A ESSA funding, CT DPH tobacco prevention grants, and local health-promotion budgets. Documentation provided on request.

How long is the program?

40 minutes of active program time, 15 min setup, 15 min breakdown. Roughly 70 min total on site. We can run back-to-back shows for larger CT middle schools.

What setup is needed?

40 by 120 ft hard surface (blacktop or gym), one power outlet within 150 ft. We bring ramps, sound, mics, generators if needed.

Do you accept CT school purchase orders?

Yes. We work with CT school business offices on POs, invoices, COIs, and contracts. PTO direct billing also available.

How far ahead should we book?

4-8 weeks standard. Health-awareness months (Kick Butts Day in March, Tobacco Free Week in November) book 8-12 weeks ahead.
